To: Our Partners in Steel Framing
Date: February 2nd, 2026
Regarding: Price Increase Effective February 16th, 2026
From: Larry Hybert, VP of Sales
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for being a valued partner of MRI Steel Framing. We sincerely appreciate your continued trust in our products and services.
Due to significant cost increases implemented by domestic steel mills, we will be implementing a price adjustment on all metal framing products effective February 16, 2026. These changes are necessary as we continue to experience ongoing cost pressures and margin compression across the industry.
Key factors contributing to this industry-wide adjustment include:
- Aggressive pricing actions from domestic producers to offset rising input and production costs. Increases in zinc coatings, scrap, iron ore, energy, and freight are all contributing to higher steel prices.
- Trade policy impacts, including Section 232 tariffs and other measures that have restricted the supply of lower-cost imports. Imports of hot-dipped galvanized steel are at 15-year lows, while other flat-rolled imports have seen severe declines, with some categories reaching 28-year lows.
- Reduced import availability, allowing domestic mills to control output, extend lead times, and reinforce price increases. Availability of “spot tons” remains tight, further contributing to market pressure.
We will continue to closely monitor market volatility and keep you informed of any developments that may affect pricing or product availability. We are also evaluating potential future steel cost escalations and their impact on metal framing pricing.
Our priority remains supporting your business and helping you stay competitive during these challenging conditions. We truly appreciate your partnership and continued trust in MRI Steel Framing. If you have any questions, please reach out to your sales representative.
